Fascinating. Conservatives and progressives are getting together to unrig our system. Over 600,000 people have already joined this movement (and it’s only just begun).
Check out the two short video clips below. They’re very sharp and get right to the point. They show:
a) how the system is rigged and
b) one way to fix it
As it stands, Congress does not represent the interests of most of the people in this country. Members of Congress really only represent corporations and the wealthy. Princeton University now has the data to prove it (as shown in 1st short video clip below).

Video clip 2 – “A Solution”
This group http://www.represent.us has well over half a million members and it is growing fast. Look at their list of featured speakers for their upcoming national conference in New Orleans. https://unrigsummit.com/?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=display&utm_campaign=unrigsummit

Also, here’s another example of a spark of understanding and unity between left and right joining together:

This joining together of progressives and conservatives to unrig the system described in the 3 video clips above is something many moderates are not thrilled about — because those moderate leaders are beholden to corporations which have rigged our system in the first place.
Corporations want us to demonize each other and stay divided. For example, they quietly cheered when the Democratic nominee for president called the former democratic base of blue collar workers “deplorables”. A divided country is one that can be manipulated to benefit the few at the expense of the many. This fits their “divide and keep conquered” strategy. They need that because it’s the only way a system can be twisted to represent the interests of 300,000 people at the expense of the other 300,000,000 people and the environment. Together we can unrig the system and that small group will no longer benefit from a playing field tilted in their favor.
Here’s how Citibank explained it in a memo to its wealthiest clients that leaked. (This shows the enormous power we the people have but are not using. They’re very concerned we will start using it). Here’s how Citibank explains it:
If you want to look at the actual 35 page leaked Citibank memo in its entirety, please click on this link. (It’s much easier just to look at the 2 minute video clip above though. Sums up the essential parts. Fascinating.):
This rigged system represents the few at the expense of most people and the planet. It is the root cause of most of the economic, political, social and environmental problems we are wrestling with today. That rigged system has resulted in the following stats and info:
Nearly 50% of children in the U.S. live below or near the poverty line — per Columbia University School of Public Health study:
20 individuals now have as much wealth as the poorest 150 million Americans (half the country) — per The Nation magazine:
A study by the Atlantic found that 47% of Americans were economically insecure and couldn’t come up with $400 in an emergency — per The Atlantic: “The Secret Shame of Middle Class America.”:
According to a study published recently by CBS News, 78% of workers in America are now living paycheck to paycheck. And each year that percentage is increasing.
The environment is clearly being damaged at a rapid pace as the interests of corporations (quarterly profits) are continually put about the interests of people and the planet. . . In addition to climate change and pollution of our air, water and land, there is also alarming news like this: “Natural world faces collapse as wildlife population plummets”
Startling admission by the CEO of the largest carpet manufacturer in the world (Interface Carpets) about what’s going to happen to people like him. 30 second clip: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=5pi7MedPUgE
We can’t keep going down this road. It’s not government that’s the problem. Its hijacked government that’s the problem.
To unseat the hijackers, restore our republic and put power back in the hands of the MANY, we need to enact major legislation that:
– achieves serious campaign finance reform with teeth
– overturns the Citizens United Supreme Court decision
– ends “corporate personhood” legal status
– restores the Glass Steagall Act (It was a protection that was put in place after the Great Depression and it worked. It’s repeal by the Clinton administration is seen by many economists as setting the stage for the 2008 financial crisis).
– and puts in place other key protections to ensure that people and the planet come before quarterly corporate profits
BUT DO WE REALLY HAVE THE POWER TO GET THESE REFORMS ENACTED?
Yes, we definitely do. All the detail on how is below in parts A & B.
